Round Cutter:
This is a general purpose cutter for the rapid removal of material inside and outside bowls and hollow forms. It works equally efficiently on spindle work. Manufactured with the highest quality high speed steel, this cutter will provide excellent endurance with incredible sharpness. Switch the TurnMaster into shear scraping mode and this cutter also delivers an extremely fine finish that requires little or no sanding.
Square Cutter:
Designed for generating square sections such as shoulders or tenons where a turned part is to be assembled into a hole - a chair leg is good example. This cutter is also useful on the outside of a round form, as well as long straight sections on spindle work. Excellent results can be achieved in shear scraping mode with cutter especially effective shear scraping on the outside of a bowl. Manufactured with Robert Sorby high speed steel ensures ultimate material reliability.
Detail Point Cutter:
This cutter is perfect for roughing down square stock to round and is therefore ideal for spindle work. As its name suggests its fine point also allows for fine detail on bowls and spindles. Shear scraping with this cutter is NOT recommended. Made with M2 HSS these popular cutters offer excellent sharpness while delivering Robert Sorby HSS reliability.
Sharpening:
Use a diamond file or honing stone across the top face. To gain best results and increase the longevity of the cutter this simple procedure should be done little and often. Use the TurnMaster cutter holder to reshape the profile on the Robert Sorby ProEdge using a zirconium or ceramic belt or on a grinding wheel using a standard abrasive material. Sharpens to: 0.2 -0.4 microns Hardness: 62 RC Material: M2 HSS
