Ockenden Timber understands its responsibility to reduce environmental impact in as many ways as possible. Company directors regularly review procedures and seek new ways of limiting the impact on the environment to ensure timber can continue to be a sustainable resource.
Orders are packed using either recycled or biodegradable packaging whenever possible.
Timber Procurement
Ockenden Timber is committed to ensure all timber products used are sourced legally and harvested sustainably. Timber is only purchased from suppliers with clear policies with regard to the environment and sustainability.
Timber Trade Federation
All main suppliers are members of the timber trade federation and are committed to their “Responsible Purchasing of Timber and Timber Products” scheme. Members recognise that they have a responsibility to the environment, customers, suppliers and staff to base their commercial activities on well-managed forests.
FSC & PEFC Certification
Whenever possible only FSC or PEFC certified timbers are purchased.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) was established to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. Its main tools for achieving this are standard setting, certification and labeling of forest products.
The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is the world's largest forest certification system. They work throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote best practice in the forest and ensure that timber and non-timber forest products are sourced with respect for the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.
