Banksia grandis
Origin: Western Australia
Colour: Outside of nut is light grey to light brown.
Inside is various shades of brown with black and brown figure.
Other Info: Banksia nuts are the fruit from the Banksia
tree. The nuts are hard and have seed pods from the outside to
the central core. Used for turning, jewellery work and inlay
work. Can also be thinly sliced to make drink coasters. Easy to
turn (can also be hollow turned). Best finished with oil as
waxes will get into the orifices of the nut.
