Ocky's Refined
Candelilla Wax Flakes (BP) - 1kg
Ocky's Candelilla Wax Flakes are
mainly from Mexico and have a melting point of 68 - 73°C. The
wax is a yellowish-brown colour and is opaque to translucent. It
is obtained from the coating of the ‘wax slipper plant’
Euphoria Cerifera. To extract the wax the plants are dried in
the sun for up to two weeks, after which they are pulverised and
treated with solvents which dissolve the wax. The wax then
floats to the surface for recovery.
Candelilla Wax is commonly used in the cosmetic industry for
numerous applications including creams and lipsticks where its
‘slip’ characteristics are ideal. It is also sometimes used
as a substitute for Carnauba Wax in polishes, although it does
not quite offer the same lustre and is not so easily emulsified.
It is commonly used in the Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical
industries as it conforms to British, European and US
Pharmacopoeia Specifications.
Each bag contains approximately 1 kilogram of Refined
Candelilla Wax Flakes (BP).
